The Children's Ministry philosophy of First Church is built upon the key verse, Matthew 19:14. "Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them for the kingdom belongs to such as these."
As a church, we are committed to assisting families in connecting their child with God through Jesus Christ. Our ministry is continually building an intentional outreach ministry. Four key elements that are demonstrated throughout our ministry and within every class, program and event are:
- Christ-Centered
- Parent-Driven
- Servant-Supported
- Fun!
We value children and it is our desire to partner with you in the Christian formation and spiritual development of your children.
The Bible makes it quite clear that children are uniquely special to God.
Your Children’s Ministry staff believes that there are 3 things that will help ensure that children will continue in a life-long relationship with God and the church.
1) The ability to truly and authentically worship God - The glue that sticks kids to Christ, uninterrupted for life, is worshipping God. Authentically worshipping God comes from truly knowing who God is.
2) Developing relationships with adult mentors while learning about God – Children are led to Christ through relationships with adult mentors who show and model Christ's love and grace.
3) Friendships with Christian peers –Children come to church, especially in the teen years, because of “who else will be there”. We need to develop these relationships now so they stay connected through the teen years.
We strive to reflect these values whether your child comes on a Sunday morning, a Weekday evening or to any of our special events.
We are committed to providing a safe environment where your children can engage in fun activities where they can learn to know God, develop caring relationships with adult mentors, meet new friends and strengthen relationships in a Christian way. We help them experience the stories of the Bible in a way that is relevant to their young lives.
